About Course

Year 11 Mathematics consolidates all prior learning and focuses on fluency, reasoning, and problem solving. Students refine core mathematical skills, tackle multi-step problems, and develop exam strategies needed to succeed in GCSE Mathematics (Foundation or Higher tiers).
Course Objectives
By the end of Year 11, students will be able to:
Apply mathematical methods accurately and efficiently
Solve unfamiliar problems using logical reasoning
Interpret and use mathematical information in context
Communicate mathematical thinking clearly
Perform confidently under exam conditions

Course Content

AUTUMN TERM
Focus: Key Number, Algebra, Geometry, Probability and Statistics topics while introducing exam-level problem-solving, multi-step questions, and GCSE exam strategies

  • Week 1 – Number Revision and Diagnostic Assessment
  • Week 2 – Powers, Roots, and Standard Form
  • Week 3 – Percentages and Growth/Decay
  • Week 4 – Ratio and Proportion Applications
  • Week 5 – Algebra: Expressions and Equations
  • Week 6 – Algebra: Quadratic and Simultaneous Equations
  • Week 7 – Graphs: Linear, Quadratic, and Cubic
  • Week 8 – Geometry: Angles, Polygons, and Circle Theorems
  • Week 9 – Transformations: Reflection, Rotation, Translation, Enlargement
  • Week 10 – Trigonometry: Right-Angle and Non-Right-Angle Problems
  • Week 11 – Probability and Statistics
  • Week 12 – Exam-focused Problem Solving and Consolidation

SPRING TERM
Focus: The Spring Term is entirely exam-focused, consolidating Year 11 concepts, practicing timed past-paper questions, refining problem-solving skills, and preparing for GCSE AQA/Edexcel exams.

SUMMER TERM
Focus: The Summer Term is designed for final GCSE preparation
