About Course

The Computer Literacy and Online Safety course introduces Year 1 learners to basic computer skills and responsible use of digital devices. Pupils learn how to use computers and tablets safely, recognize common digital tools, and understand simple online safety rules. The course builds confidence in technology use while promoting good digital behavior, awareness, and safety.

Key Focus Areas
Identifying basic computer parts (screen, keyboard, mouse, tablet)
Using simple programs and educational apps
Basic typing and mouse control skills
Understanding online safety rules
Recognizing safe and unsafe online behavior
Asking an adult for help when online

  • Week 3: Parts of a Computer (Internal & Portable Devices)
  • Week 4: How to Use a Mouse
  • Week 5: Using a Keyboard
  • Week 6: Turning a Computer On and Off Safely
  • Week 7: What is the Internet? (Very Simple)
  • Week 8: Online Safety Basics
  • Week 9: Good & Bad Screens
  • Week 10: Revision & Fun Practice

SPRING TERM
