About Course

The Mathematics course in Year 3 builds on prior knowledge to develop pupils’ fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Learners explore numbers, operations, fractions, measurement, and geometry in practical and engaging contexts. The course encourages logical thinking, perseverance, and the application of mathematical skills across real-life situations and other subjects.

Place value up to 1,000
Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (including times tables fluency)
Introduction to fractions and equivalent fractions
Measurement: length, mass, capacity, and time
Geometry: 2D and 3D shapes, angles, symmetry, and position
Data handling: interpreting charts, tables, and graphs
Problem-solving and reasoning across all areas of mathematics
