About Course
The English Literature course in Year 9 deepens pupils’ appreciation of literary texts from different periods, cultures, and genres. Pupils study a range of novels, plays, poetry, and extracts, developing the ability to analyse language, structure, and form while exploring themes, characters, and contextual influences. The course encourages critical interpretation, independent thinking, and articulate written and spoken responses, laying strong foundations for GCSE English Literature.
