About Course

 

The Mathematics course introduces young learners to numbers, shapes, patterns, and simple problem-solving through play-based and hands-on activities. Children develop early numeracy skills such as counting, sorting, measuring, and recognizing patterns using real-life contexts. The course builds confidence in mathematical thinking while encouraging curiosity, exploration, and enjoyment of learning.

Key Focus Areas
Number recognition and counting.
Basic addition and subtraction concepts.
Shapes, space, and simple measurements.
Patterns and comparisons.
Logical thinking through play.

Course Content

AUTUMN TERM
Counting, number recognition to 10, simple composition, shapes, early measurement.

  • Week 1: Counting to 5 & number recognition
  • Week 2: Subitizing & one-more / one-less (to 5)
  • Week 3: Number composition & bonds to 3
  • Week 4: Comparing groups: more, fewer, same
  • Week 5: Shapes: circle, square, triangle
  • Week 6: Positional language
  • Week 7: Measurement vocabulary (big/small etc.)
  • Week 8: Practical addition within 5
  • Week 9: Practical subtraction within 5
  • Week 10: Consolidation & assessment

SPRING TERM
Number bonds, addition & subtraction within 10, patterns, 2D/3D shapes.

SUMMER TERM
Numbers to 20, early problem-solving, measurement, simple time & ordering.
