About Course

Year 10 Science builds core scientific knowledge, practical skills, and exam literacy. Students develop conceptual understanding, apply scientific methods, interpret data, and use correct terminology. The year lays the foundation for GCSE assessments in Year 11.
Course Objectives
By the end of Year 10, students should be able to:
Understand and explain key biological, chemical, and physical concepts
Apply scientific knowledge to unfamiliar contexts
Carry out required practical experiments safely and accurately
Analyse data, graphs, and experimental results
Use correct scientific vocabulary and mathematical skills
Answer GCSE-style exam questions with confidence

AUTUMN TERM (Biology)
Focus: Biology, Chemistry and Physics fundamentals, integrating theory, practical work, and exam-style reasoning.

  • WEEK 1: BIOLOGY – CELLS & CELL STRUCTURE
  • WEEK 2: BIOLOGY – CELL SPECIALISATION & ORGANISATION
  • WEEK 7: BIOLOGY – GENETICS & INHERITANCE

AUTUMN TERM (Chemistry)
Focus: Biology, Chemistry and Physics fundamentals, integrating theory, practical work, and exam-style reasoning.

AUTUMN TERM (Physics)
Focus: Biology, Chemistry and Physics fundamentals, integrating theory, practical work, and exam-style reasoning.

SPRING TERM (Biology)
Focus: Practical application, data analysis, problem-solving and exam-style preparation.

SPRING TERM (Chemistry)
Focus: Practical application, data analysis, problem-solving and exam-style preparation.

SPRING TERM (Physics)
Focus: Practical application, data analysis, problem-solving and exam-style preparation.

SUMMER TERM (Combined)
Focus: Core scientific knowledge, deepens application skills and prepares students for exam-style questions across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
